Chilli Chicken

Chilli Chicken is a dish made of chunks of boneless chicken mixed with dry red chilies, finely chopped ginger and garlic, onions and other Indo Chinese spices to make a spicy Indian flare dish along with the distinct traditional Chinese flavors.

Egg-1Cornflour-3 tbspAll purpose flour-1 tbsp (optional)

Black pepper powder-1 tspSoy sauce-2 tspSalt-1tsp Ginger garlic paste-1 tbspRefined vegetable oil for deep frying


Onion –1 medium size cut into cubes

Capsicum-1 medium size cut into cubes
Garlic-2 tsp chopped Ginger-1 tsp chopped
Green chillies-2-3 Spring onion-2 stalks Tomato sauce-4 tbspRed chilli sauce-2 tbspSoy sauce-1 tbsp Vinegar-1 tbsp Salt-1 tsp Red chilli powder-1 tsp (optional)
Corn flour- 3tbsp
Water-250 mlOil-2 tbsp


  • Transfer all listed ingredients for marination into the chicken, mix them well.
  • Keep the chicken for marination for about 30 min.
  • Heat vegetable oil into a pan on high heat, turn the flame on medium heat, add chicken pieces one by one,Fry them slowly for about 6-7 min or till they turn into nice golden in colour, and the chicken gets tender.
  • Take them off into an absorbent paper.
  • Heat 2 tbsp  oil  into an another pan, once oil gets nicely hot add chopped garlic, ginger and green chillies, fry them for 30-35 sec.
  • Add chopped onions and chopped capsicum, fry them on high heat for 1-2 min.
  • Add tomato sauce, chili sauce ,soy sauce and vinegar.
  • Add some salt and red chili powder(optional.)
  • Add corn flour slurry gradually, mix with another hand simultaneously.
  • Cook for 2-3 min till the rawness of cornflour goes away.
  • Add chicken stock and MSG(both optional)
  • Add chicken pieces, mix well.
  • Garnish it with green part of spring onion.


  • While making any chicken starters you should brine the chicken before cooking.
  • Wash the chicken thoroughly and add water and salt and keep for atleast 30 minutes before actual cooking.
