Onion Pakoda is a deep fried batter snack made of gram flour (besan), mixed with spices and onions. Unlike the potato bajji or the banana chili bajji, the batter for the onion pakoda is different. It is my one of favorite tea time snack. It is the snack which loved by everyone irrespective of age. For crispy Onion pakoda do follow my steps… Let’s start making Onion Pakoda.
Onion – 1 cup
Gram flour (Besan) – 1 cup
Salt – to taste.
Ginger finely sliced – 1 tsp.
Curry leaves – as required.
Green chillies – 2 no.
Baking powder – 1/2 tsp.
Oil or butter(for tempering) – 2 Tbsp.
Rice flour – 1/4 cup.
Cashew nuts (crushed/sliced) – 5 no.(Optional)
Cumin Seeds- 1/2 tsp.
Oil – as required.
Preparations & METHOD
- Take a bowl, add very thinly sliced onions, green chilies, ginger sliced, curry leaves, if you want to add cashew nuts soak in water for 10min and then add it to the onions, add salt and mix well.
- In another bowl add chickpea flour, rice flour, salt, jeera, baking powder, oil, now add the onion mixture.
- Mix well if need sprinkle water and mix well again. Heat oil and deep fry till it is golden brown. Serve hot and Enjoy!!!!
- Serves 3-4.
- Using rice flour is the main ingredient for that extra crispiness.
