Spicy Red Chilli Chutney Recipe | Fiery & Flavorful Indian Condiment

This is one of the Tastiest chutney I have made in these times. Fresh Red chillies are seasonal, they look very attractive and appealing. I thought of making something different with this. It can be easily stored for up to 6 months in fridge. Generally I make bulk quantity and take out small portion, add tempering to it and enjoy with hot steam rice and ghee. This spicy and flavorful Red Chilli Chutney is a perfect Indian condiment made with fresh red chillies, garlic, and simple spices. It pairs wonderfully with dosa, idli, snacks, and rice, adding a fiery kick to every bite. So, without any delay let’s get started.

Ingredients:

Fresh Red chillies:250gms

Oil-1/4 Cup

Onions-4 Medium size

Tamarind-100gms

Curry Leaves-1 bunch

Garlic cloves-15-20

Cumin Seeds-2 Tbsp

Salt-a/c taste

Mustard Seeds-2tsp

Dry Red chillies-4-5

Asafoetida- pinch

Preparations:

. Remove stalks of red chilles and wash them thoroughly with running tap water. Air Dry them completey, tap dry them with neat kitchen towel. No moisture should be left on them.

. Deseed them and cut length wise. (I deseed only half of them and left remaining as it is. I need some spicyness, if you donot want spicy deseed them all.)

. Roughly chop the onions, peel the garlic cloves, and deseed tamarind if any.(should be clean without any strings in tamarind).

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in wide wok add chopped onions, fry them till translucent.Red Chilli Chutney
  2. Add red chillies, fry till the onions turn light brown and red chillies are soft.Red Chilli Chutney
  3. Now add tamarind, curry leaves, garlic cloves and cumin seeds. Fry them for atleast 7-8 minute on medium flame till the tamaring gets soft and garlics are well cooked.Red Chilli Chutney
  4. Turn off the flame and cool the mixture completely.
  5. Grind the mixture in batches, with salt as per taste , and add to the serving bowl.Red Chilli Chutney
  6. Take another small tadka pan, add 3Tbsp oil heat it, and add mustard seeds, crackle them.Red Chilli Chutney
  7. Add 7-8 garlic cloves,1tsp cumin seeds, curry leaves and dry red chilies.
  8. Add this tempering to the grinded miture in serving bowl. Your Red chilli Chutney is ready, serve wtih hot steamed rice and ghee. ENJOY!!!

TIPS:

-> Serves 3-2(If made small portion)

-> Goes well with hot steamed rice and Ghee. Idli, Dosa or as a snack Dip.
