Hi there! Today my recipe is Hyderabadi Paneer. You have seen number of paneer recipes in this blog.

Now I’ll tell you the most satisfying paneer recipe Hyderabadi Paneer. It’s very simple recipe, though looks like Palak Paneer, but the taste is very different. In palak paneer, palak is blanched and then pureed. In this Hyderabadi paneer we’ll sauté it with onions and tomatoes which makes the gravy looks thick and rich. So, let’s move into the recipe

Ingredients:

Oil-4Tbsp

Paneer-250grams

Onion-1 medium size

Ginger-1″ piece

Garlic-6-7 cloves

Green chilly-2

Tomatoes-2 small

Spinach/Palak-2-3 bunches of medium size

Coriander leaves-1 small bunch

Cinnamon-1″ piece

Cardamom-2

Black cardamom-1

Curd/Yougurt-3Tbsp

Fresh cream-3Tbsp

Turmeric-½tsp

Red chilly powder-1tsp

Coriander powder-1tsp

Cumin powder-½tsp

Garam masala-1tsp

Kasuri Methi-2tsp

Salt-1tsp or a/c taste.

Preparations:

  • Heat 1Tbsp oil in a pan add sliced onions, ginger garlic, green chillies, fry till onions turn translucent.
  • Add Tomatoes, fry for 2 mins. Add washed and chopped spinach and fry till all water evaporates.
  • Cool the mixture completely and set aside.

METHOD:

  1. Take a deep wok heat remaining 3Tbsp oil, add cinnamon, cardamom, and black cardamom fry for 1 minute till the spices releases its flavor in oil. Take out and discard the spices. Add one chopped green chilly.
  2. Add the grinded paste, fry for 3-4 minutes on a medium flame.
  3. Add yogurt and cream mix well. Cook on low heat for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add dry spices turmeric, red chilly powder, coriander powder, cumin powder mix well. Add ½ cup water and mix well, cook for 1 minute.
  5. Add paneer cubes and mix gently. Cover and cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Finally add garam masala and kasuri methi and give it fine mix. Simmer for 2 minutes. Serve hot and Enjoy!!!

Tips:

  • Serves 4-5
  • Goes well with naan, paratha, roti, phulka or plain rice.
  • You can add pumpkin seeds while frying onions and tomatoes for extra taste and nutrients.
  • You can use 2Tbsp ginger-garlic paste if fresh ginger and garlic is not in hand.
