Indulging in the delectable South Indian breakfast dish, Appe. This traditional and wholesome dish hails from the rich culinary heritage of South India and is known for its enticing aroma and irresistible taste. Made from a fermented batter of rice and lentils, this small, round-shaped delicacy is not only delicious but also incredibly nutritious.
Today I’ll show you how ta make this appe recipe instantly. No need to soak and ferment the lentils.. Just follow the below steps and the result is just unbelievable..

Ingredients:

Bombay Rava /Semolina /Suji (coarse)-2 cups

Curd-1 cup 

Water-1 cup 

Salt-1 tsp

Onion (finely chopped)-½

Carrot-1 (grated)

Tomato-½ (chopped)

Coriander-1Tbsp (finely chopped)

Curry leaves-few (finely chopped)

Green chilli-2 (finely chopped)

Baking soda or Eno fruit salt-½ tsp

Oil-3Tbsp (for roasting)

Preparations:

  • Firstly, in a large bowl take 2 cup Rava, 1 cup curd, and 1 tsp salt.
  • Add 1 cup water and mix well, and prepare the batter.
  • Further add ½ cup water, cover and rest for 20 minutes.

Batter

METHOD:

  1. After resting the batter, mix it again.
  2. Now add chopped onion, carrot, tomato, coriander, curry leaves and green chilli.
  3. Mix well and make sure everything is well combined.
  4. Further, add ½ tsp baking soda or eno fruit salt and 2Tbsp water. 
  5. Mix gently forming a frothy batter.
  6. Heat the appe pan and add oil to each mould.
  7. Once the pan is hot enough, add in prepared rava batter.
  8. Cover and simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Roast on low to medium flame until the appe turns golden brown.
  10. Flip over and cook both sides.
  11. Finally, enjoy Instant Appe Recipe with chutney.

Tips:

  • Serves 3-4.
  • Goes well coconut or peanut chutney.
  • You can increase the quantity for each member. For example 1cup of of rava and ½cup of curd can be served to two people.
